Currency Exchange Screen

Currency Exchange is configured in Setup / Finance / Currency Exchange / Currency Exchange

Overview #

Currency exchanges define the exchange rates that LogiSense Billing uses when amounts need to be converted between currencies. This is commonly used when charges created in one currency must be billed or reported in another currency.

Each currency exchange has an effective date. When that date is reached, the exchange becomes active. If multiple exchanges exist, the exchange with the most recent effective date is the one that is used. Older exchanges remain useful for historical billing because they can still be selected when a bill run needs to use rates that applied during an earlier period.

The owner’s default currency acts as the base currency for the exchange. The other rates in the list are maintained relative to that base currency.

Prerequisites #

Before exchange rates can be maintained on this screen, the required currencies must already be configured in Owner Configuration.

Currency Exchanges Panel #

The Currency Exchanges panel on the left displays the available currency exchange records. Select a currency exchange to load its details in the panel on the right.

Edit Currency Exchange Panel #

The Edit Currency Exchange panel displays the details for the selected currency exchange.

Fields #

  • Name: Identifies the currency exchange. Use a name that helps administrators recognize when the rates should be used.
  • Effective Date: Determines when the exchange becomes active. Effective dates cannot overlap. Once the effective date is reached, the exchange cannot be deleted.

Currencies Tab #

The Currencies tab lists the currencies that are available for the owner and the exchange rate recorded for each one. The owner’s default currency is included in the list and serves as the base currency for the exchange.

Currency Rate List #

  • Currency: Displays the name of the currency for the row.
  • Code: Displays the currency code, such as USD or GBP.
  • Default: Indicates whether the currency is the owner’s default currency.
  • Exchange Rate: Stores the conversion rate used for billing and other currency conversion scenarios. The exchange rate for the default currency is read-only because it is the base currency for the exchange.
