Package Contracts Screen

Last verified with: 10.8.6.0

Contracts are configured in Setup / Product Catalog / Contracts / Contracts

Overview #

The Package Contracts screen is used to define contract terms that can be attached to package frequencies in the product catalog or applied to account packages. These contracts define how long the contract lasts, what should happen when the term ends, and what early termination charges apply if the contract is ended before completion.

This screen is intended for package-level contract definitions. If you need broader contract behavior that applies across account-level package relationships, that is handled through account contracts rather than through this setup screen.

Prerequisites #

  • Services with a Fee base type should already exist if you want to configure early termination charges.

Contracts Panel #

The Contracts panel on the left displays the available package contracts. Selecting a contract loads its details on the right so you can review or update it.

Actions #

Edit Contract Panel #

The Edit Contract panel displays the selected contract and is where its main settings are maintained.

Fields #

  • Name: The descriptive name for the contract.
  • Active: Controls whether the contract is available for new configuration. Inactive contracts remain available for reference on existing records but are not intended for new use.
  • Term: Defines the contract length.
  • Unit: Works with Term to define the full contract duration, such as months or years.
  • Renew Type: Defines what should happen when the contract reaches the end of its term.
  • Contract: Appears when the selected Renew Type starts a new contract, and lets you choose which contract will replace the current one.

Renew Type #

The Renew Type setting controls the outcome when the contract expires. Depending on the available renewal options in your environment, the contract can renew automatically, expire, cancel the related package, or move to another contract.

When the selected renewal behavior starts a new contract, the Contract field becomes available so you can choose the replacement contract.

Early Termination Tab #

The Early Termination tab is used to configure the fee behavior that applies when a contract is ended before the full term has been completed.

Fields #

  • Transaction Service: The fee-based service that will be used when the early termination charge is created.
  • Charge Remainder: Indicates that the remaining contract value should be charged when the contract is terminated early.
  • Revoke Discounts: Becomes available when Charge Remainder is enabled and indicates that contract-related discounts should also be revoked as part of the early termination treatment.

Currency List #

The currency list on this tab allows you to configure an early termination amount for each available currency.

Each row shows:

  • Currency: The currency name.
  • Code: The currency code.
  • Amount: The early termination fee amount that will apply for that currency.

If no amount is entered for a currency, no fixed early termination fee is configured for that currency.

References Tab #

The References tab shows where the selected contract is already in use. This helps determine the impact of changes and whether the contract can be deleted.

Depending on the type of reference, the tab can show details such as:

  • the package and frequency where the contract is used
  • the account package where the contract is already applied
