# Service Transitions Screen

**Last verified with:** 10.8.6.0

Service Transitions are configured in Setup / Product Catalog / Service / Service Transitions

## Overview

Service transitions define the allowed status-change events that can be referenced when configuring transition-based charging. A transition represents movement from one service status to another, such as moving from **Pre-Active** to **Active**, or from **Suspended** to **Active**.

These transition definitions are used when pricing needs to react to a change in service state. For example, a transition can be referenced when applying an activation fee, reactivation fee, or another one-time charge that should occur only when a service moves through a specific lifecycle change.

## Prerequisites

- Service statuses should already be configured before service transitions are created.

## Service Transitions Panel

The Service Transitions panel on the left displays the available service transitions. Selecting a transition loads its details on the right so you can review or update it.

### Actions

## Edit Service Transition Panel

The Edit Service Transition panel displays the selected transition and is where its settings are maintained.

### Fields

- **Name**: The internal name for the transition. This should clearly describe the lifecycle event, such as activation, reactivation, suspension, or cancellation.
- **From Status**: The starting service status for the transition.
- **To Status**: The destination service status for the transition.

### Transition Rules

- **From Status** can be set to **[New]** to represent a transition from a newly created service into its first actual status.
- **[New]** is available only in **From Status**.
- The same status cannot be selected in both **From Status** and **To Status**.
- A canceled status is not available as a **From Status** value.
