# Price Books Screen

**Last verified with:**10.8.6.0

Price Books are configured in Setup / Product Catalog / Package / Price Books

## Overview

Price Books are used to separate pricing by region so the same product catalog content can be sold with different pricing rules in different areas. A price book can then be referenced when configuring package pricing so the correct regional prices, tax behavior, and accounting behavior can be applied.

The standard price book acts as the default pricing context in the system. Additional price books can be created when pricing needs to vary by region.

## Prerequisites

Price book regions must be configured before additional price books can be created.

## Price Books Panel

The Price Books panel on the left displays the price books that already exist in the system. Select a price book to load its details in the edit panel on the right.

Each row shows the price book name and whether it is currently **Active** or **Disabled**.

### Actions

## Edit Price Book Panel

The panel on the right displays the selected price book and is where you maintain its core details.

### Main Fields

- **Name**: The name of the price book.
- **Active**: Controls whether the price book is available for active use. At least one price book in the system must remain active.
- **Region**: The price book region that the price book applies to.
- **Is Standard Price Book**: A read-only indicator that shows whether the selected price book is the standard price book.
- **Description**: An optional description of the price book.

### Notes About Field Behavior

- The **Region** field is read-only for the standard price book.
- The standard price book cannot be deleted.
- A price book that is already referenced by pricing configuration cannot be deleted.
- The screen only enables the **Active** setting when doing so would still leave at least one active price book in the system.

## Additional Notes

The visible screen layout is focused on the core price book fields. Package-level references are not shown as part of the normal screen layout.
